Occasionally an independent CD can yield rewards and such is the case this
month with Second Chances featuring vocalist Allison Paris. Again, the
standards but with some lilting swing and vibrant interpretation

In over 50 Years in radio I have listened to hundreds of girl singers, or,
more correctly, female vocalists. Some are excellent, some fairly good and unfortunately
a few who weren't quite up to our standards. When I first heard Allison Paris
I knew she was one of the best. Allison has a lovely warm, mellow sound avoiding
the tendency of too many singers today to scream and wail for effect. She caresses
a lyric and stays with the melody so you get a performance sure to please the
composers and everyone who appreciates fine popular singing. The competition
is tough out there but Allison should succeed in appealing to aficionados of
superior vocalizing.
